Elle Magazine: Hudson's Bay Partners with Inland to Highlight Canadian Designers

Featured under the jewelry category, ADORA WATSON is one of more than 40 Canadian brands to participate in the partnership.

ELLE (Canada) Magazine, October 7, 2020 - "As part of its commitment to supporting more Canadian and BIPOC designers, Hudson’s Bay has announced a partnership with local designer platform INLAND [which will get a boost from being featured on Hudson’s Bay website until the end of the year.]

The shop features more than 40 Canadian brands – 40 percent of which are owned by BIPOC creatives... Elisa Watson-Smith, founder of new ethical and sustainably produced jewellery line ADORA WATSON, says the partnership with INLAND and Hudson’s Bay provides a valuable opportunity for local designers to reach a broader audience.

“For any underrepresented groups, there tends to be a narrative of There aren’t enough female designers, there aren’t enough Black designers, there aren’t enough Canadian designers, and I don’t think that’s the case,” says Watson-Smith. “There are people who need an opportunity to showcase their work.”

“[The partnership] demonstrates that the talent is there,” she adds. “To know you can get amazing fashion right here in Canada that’s sustainably made, and often ethically produced, is really exciting.”" - Victoria DiPlacido
